his career as an Education and Prevention Specialist, providing
trainings and workshops on various issues related to chemical dependency.

and 'Family Intervention' Programs at the ALTERNATIVES Chemical
Abuse Program on the South Side of Pittsburgh.
In 1987, he joined the
Family Therapy staff at Gateway Rehabilitation Center in Aliquippa,
Pa., which has been recognized as one of the premiere rehabilitation
facilities in the country. He implemented short term shame healing

he developed lectures, workshops and trainings at agency, community
and conference levels.
Michael is a licensed psychologist currently dedicating most of
his professional time to his private practice in Pittsburgh, PA.
He works with individuals, couples and men's groups, specializing
in depression, spirituality, family issues, abuse survivors and
men's issues. In the early 1980's, he was one of the initial clinicians
in the Western Pennsylvania region to raise awareness of shame as
a legitimate treatment topic in the chemical dependency and recovery
fields.
Since obtaining his Master's degree in 1982, Mervosh has continuously
received ongoing training. Michael is a Gestalt therapist who has
completed four years of training at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland,
with an emphasis on working with body process and individuals. For
the past six years, he has been in an ongoing training group for
Gestalt therapists who do bodywork in the Pittsburgh area. Michael
has also received clinical supervision and training over the past
decade in object relations, affect theory, transactional analysis,
Radix and other various types of bodywork. His aim has been to eventually
integrate psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical wellness
into daily living, for himself as well as others. In 1997, he graduated
from the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, an intensive, worldwide
four year self development and training program in New York; he
is currently in their three year teacher training program.
Michael presently is focusing his energy and efforts on the development
and growth of the Vision Quest (for men and women) and Hero's Journey
(for men), programs which provide supportive and transformative
spiritual initiations for those seeking life transitions. These
programs have profoundly assisted individuals in altering the course
of their lives.
Michael lives with his daughter in Pittsburgh, where they pursue
tae kwon do, horseback riding, softball, reading (and occasionally
nothing at all) with great heart and devotion.
